Synthetic
Dreads This section covers synthetic dreads such as Single Ends (S.E.) and Double Ends (D.E.).
Synthetic dreads are a great way to try out dreads without the commitment of natural dreads. Easy to install and remove, they can be worn for a few hours to months at a time. They come in all lengths, as well as an endless combination of colors and styles. Synthetic Dread Styles Nuclear Doll has a stock of S.E. Dreads (we do not carry D.E.'s) in our Shop from time to time. Our dreads are made from 100% kanekalon fiber, which is first back combed and professionally steam sealed at a very high degree for the highest quality dreads available. Single
Ends
Synthetic Single Ended dreads
differ from Double Ended dreads as they
have a
small loop at the top of the dread in which to pull natural hair through to secure the hair for installation. The hair is pulled through the loop via a threader then natural hair is braided down the dread and tied off with a rubber band or an elastic. Removal is simple! Remove the band, undo the braid and remove the SE dread. A complete take down and re-installation should be done every month or two to give the scalp a break and to keep your installation looking it's best! Generally you will need about 125 thin SE dreads, 100 medium SE dreads, or 75 large SE dreads to complete a full head (your head varies). Double
Ends
Doubled Ended dreads are a long
dread with no loops on either end.
To install you lay half the dread on the head and start braiding half way down the dread. Secure with a band, and flip the dread ends down as normal. Removal is simple! Remove the band, undo the braid and remove the DE dread. A complete take down and re-installation should be done every month or two to give the scalp a break and to keep your installation looking it's best! Generally you will need about 100 thin SE dreads, 75 medium SE dreads, or 50 large SE dreads to complete a full head (your head varies). |
